During my day to day role I am given the opportunity to manage the roll out of a new collaboration technology in AstraZeneca. With that comes the responsibility of project management which involves stakeholder management and other responsibilities. Another part of my job is to build POCs to test a new piece of technology quickly and see how it can improve AstraZeneca
One of the massive skills I have developed is my coding ability. Doing the Software Engineering course alongside my day to day job has really sped up the process of learning how to code and being able to able my learnings day to day has helped alot. A skill that I have improved while working at AstraZeneca is my presenting ability. Astrazeneca put me on a presentation course called 'Bold Echo' which teaches you how to make slides with minimal words on it and teaches you to be expressive in your speech. I found this very helpful and has improved my confidence in presenting
I very much enjoy the programme I am in at the moment. The environment I am working in is a very inclusive one that encourages creativity and gives me the incentive to push my boundaries and develop as a person. The team I'm working in gives me alot of freedom to tailor the work to what interests me and most importantly still impacts the business in a positive way
During my currecnt rotation I feel I am valued and the ideas I put forward are taken into account and not just thrown in the bin because I'm an apprentice. AstraZeneca as a whole works hard to get peoples achievements recognised and infront of people high up in the business which encourages me to produce my best work knowing that I could be recognised for it
The programme itself I'd say is structured very nicely and allows time for me to study a bit for University and do my work to a high standard. The ability to rotate around different times has been nice and has kept the apprenticeship quite interesting. I think one thing that could be improved is the exit strategy from the apprenticeship into a permanent role. There has been no clear outline into how this works and its been left solely up to us
We get our training sent to us through a training tool used within Astrazeneca and this allows us to keep track of what we have and haven't done. The attitude to training in AstraZeneca is ery good because people are always willing to pay for training to help you grow if its part fo your IDP or goals for the year or if its going to help you with your day to day job
I receive a lot of support from my employer. They have given my a general work mentor who I can pose questions to. This really helped early on in my career at AZ but even now it helps to know there's someone to go to. I have also been given a University mentor who helps me with my Uni work and sets out plans for me on how to tackle my work
My salary meets my day to day costs and allows me to treat myself which is nice. I think if I didnt live in my parents house I would struggle to maintain a decent living environment. Social costs are covered in my salary which means I can have fun outside of work as well
Outside of work AstraZeneca puts on events for people to go to and network and get to know other people within the company. These events range from going for a drink to physical activities so its a nice mixture. There is a gym on site which provides a decent collection of equipment and covers all my needs
Yes
Because I think the work ethic and the motivation of the company to improve me as a human being is incredible and i have never been this happy in my entire live
I would recommend having an adult there during the application process because there are complex questions
