Project management trainee. My daily tasks at the moment are circulated around PMO, therefore I check the risk and issues, governance, compliance QA'ing packs, checking progress status reports and tracking the closure of projects. For this I have to be able to communicate with stakeholders and members of my team effectively to make sure that my work is completed on time and to the right standards. Being responsible for these tasks was daunting at first as people are reliant on you to do your job right and on time to deadlines.
I have been to multiple workshops which help develop new and existing skills in things such as personal branding, emotional intelligence, team building and effective communications. Although some of the skills I have learnt are professional some are personal therefore I can use at home and at work- these transferable skills are really important.
I love the programme I am on, I have made lots of friends along the way and I work with are really supportive and knowledgeable which is really helpful. The culture of the job is very relaxed where you are completely trusted and always listened to. this exceeded my expectations and therefore I am very much enjoying my time here.
I feel very valued by every member of staff I have crossed paths with, everyone is warm and friendly and very enthusiastic to help and listen. I expected this from my manager and my team but as very surprised when It also came from staff who I didn't directly work with for example the head of change for my department.
The induction process was very structured along with the first weeks of my role while doing the training. however I did notice that the longer we were here the less structured the programme became. For example pieces of work are given without very clear guidelines and deadlines to meet making it difficult to know what to do and for when.
sometimes it is difficult to get in touch with my training provider however when I do he is very informative and very helpful. Despite the troubles with reaching him because he is external he is very enthusiastic about supporting me and I feel like he puts in lots of effort to help.
Within the company I feel very supported whether its from my Line Manager, team members, HR or IT. Everyone is very helpful and always makes it seem like no question is an issue or silly.
I think my salary is just enough for me to be able to pay my bills like my car and rent with enough left to spend on myself. The only issue id say is it costs a lot of money to travel to work whether this is by car with parking in the city centre of the train at peak times. Therefore I have notice that it is hard to save any spare money as the end of the month always seems a little tight.
there are a few company events which are very good to go to like the Helping Britain Prosper event. The company also supports volunteering within the local and wider community.
Yes
I thoroughly enjoy working here and on the scheme I am on. There are lots of opportunities and the company has great values and are very supportive.
The application process is though but just try you're best and always stay true to yourself. Don't try and act the way you think they want you to because yourself is probably the right answer. once you've been accepted give 110% effort and enthusiasm and opportunities will come.
