Technical Apprentice: Mainly engineering administration tasks including spreadsheet updating, document reviewing, document amendments.
Improved computer skills. Improved public speaking skills. No new engineering skills learnt.
Would like more engineering based tasks where new skills and experience can be gained.
We are valued in the sense that we are needed to complete tasks for the department. Many departments could not support their current workload without apprentices.
The core structure of the apprenticeship is well organised.
Training provider/tutor provides excellent support and guidance at all times.
All contact regarding apprenitceship and NVQ/further education is through our tutor.
In early years it is not possible to live away from home if the apprenticeship is your only income. However salary increases in later years allow for this.
Minimal opportunities on our particular site. Other sites offer a greater range of opportunities.
No
Although it is an engineering apprenticeship, very little actual engineering experience and skills available once you leave the training centre.
