This course is not 100% relevant to my day to day work. The course is more focused on Data Science and less focused on Data Management which is my day to day job. Some of the profiling of data and methods may be useful. But other sections like time series are unlikely ever to be useful.
The course seems to be reviewing most of the thing that I did on my Master degree. There have been a couple of excels new features have been useful. But the free online course seems to have been teaching me American rules and regulations about Data and missed the basics of the UK regulations like Data Protection.
I have not enjoyed this programme and I feel like I have been tricked in participating in building a course. Instead of what I was expecting to be in a fully functional up and running course. The bumps in the road and the lack of support or knowledgeable advisers is has left me disheartened.
Personally for my day to day work and my knowledge and experience of my job I feel valued. In relations to the apprenticeship course I believe that the company does not value this course and it seems like a way to make sure they spend the apprenticeship levee that was placed on them by the government.
This apprenticeship course has been very poorly unorganised and structured. From speaking with our advisor it seems that the course is in the process of being built. Requirements seem to be added randomly and without warning or not clearly explained. The training for the course is done late in the course.
The support from the training provider has been limited. There adviser is not an expert in the subject area. They didn’t seem to know what software was required to complete their courses and it took many months before supplying a list to other company. The training course have been basic and limited.
Support from my employer has been limited. They did not check what software / websites were required for this course before signing us up. They seem to want to put a positive spin on everything and don’t seem to take our concerns about the course serious. But they do support us with time and travel expenses.
My salary is excellent, since I am continuing to be paid as I would have been before this apprenticeship began. My travel costs to training courses away from my normal work place are all being covered. My food costs at courses are not covered, but I would not expect this.
Not sure how this question relates to the apprenticeship. Department events happen twice a year. In my pervious department there was volunteering but as of yet nothing in this department. There is a gym on site which can be signed up for and the money is taken directly out of your wage.
Yes
I have worked at the company for 10 years. They pay well and have a good supportive atmosphere in many areas of its business. The pay and benefits are good. The ability to work flexibly from multiple offices and working from home let you have a good work life balance.
