I work in Global Data as an Apprentice. I specifically work in a team with Global Data News & Lifestyles who work on content indexing and extraction. I do all sorts of tasks usually assigned by team mates and work on projects whether they be from Step Forward or Bloomberg.
I have learnt a variety of skills both hard and soft. In regards to hard skills, I have developed my technical abilities, having been introduced to Python programming language not long after I started and working with Pandas software library. Soon, I will be doing a project based on training I have undertaken for Python. As for soft skills, I have grown personally in areas such as time management, punctuality, work efficiency and communication, to name a few.
I thoroughly enjoy the programme and acknowledge that it's a rare opportunity to be valued dearly.
I feel very appreciated and valued by Bloomberg. From when I started, I noticed straight away the strong sense of multiculturalism and the wide variety of backgrounds which we all originate from at Bloomberg.
Programme follows a set structure, though my actual daily procedures/activities vary greatly!
I receive a lot of support from training. Training staff also come into my place of work for meetings occasionally and are also in touch my managers.
My employers give a lot of support and are understanding of my learning methods and needs.
Very well.
There are countless opportunities to make use of, whether they be philanthropy events or training courses related or not related to your field of work to gain deep insights in personal interests and work-related subjects.
Yes
A very reputable and successful company. They care just as much about employees as well as the business' performance. A very warm and accommodating environment overall. Working abroad is also encouraged which I very much appreciate and would like to take part in at some point.
Do not panic about interviews/assessments, it's normal to be nervous! I felt the same and never expected to have performed well enough initially. There are lots of exciting opportunities to have which you can always learn about whether it be from fellow colleagues or simply on the Terminal as it's very efficient with updates and information feeds.
