  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Microsoft?
  • I definitely feel valued at Microsoft, I am given a lot of responsibility in my job role, I have been given many projects to lead without being micro-managed. On these projects I am recognised by my team and manager, which is usually verbal or written, and praised for the work I have done.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • My programme is still rather new therefore we are still working through some of the problems that occur, however on a whole it is well structured. I am given the support and opportunity by Microsoft to voice any concerns that I have about my degree or the programme and they help resolve them to improve my experience.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • We are given guidance if there are problems and given a single point of contact to reach out to if we are struggling. However I do believe there is the opportunity to be given more support from them.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • A lot, I have fortnightly meetings with my manager who always starts the conversation by asking about my degree programme is going. We also have sync's with members of HR who give us a safe space to discuss any issues we are facing and will always try resolve them and give us any extra support if needed.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • It is a good salary for my age and covers most of my living costs however I do not believe it is enough to be able to afford to move out and live on my own at the moment.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are plenty of opportunities to get out of the office such as attending events, this could include Partner events related to my job role or attending careers fairs to talk to younger people about apprenticeships. We can also work from different locations such as home or go into the London offices which gives us a chance to have a change of scenery.

  • 9. Would you recommend Microsoft to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It is such a great company to work for, they give you a platform and support to excel. There are endless opportunities here and you will never be held back from trying to achieve them, the overall culture is welcoming and friendly. You can come as you are and do what you love.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Microsoft?
  • I'd say be yourself, they are a really good judge of character and will be able to tell if you are trying to be someone you're not. Also don't be afraid to say you haven't got much experience, they are looking for fresh, new people who bring enthusiasm and ideas to the company, use this as an opportunity to learn about an area of interest.
