-Mechanical engineering technician. -Planned and reactive maintenance of chemical processing equipment. -Responsible for the safe and efficient execution of engineering tasks to ensure plant availability. -Work in a small local engineering team, ranging from 4-6 people as well as communication with the wider engineering and process teams. - My daily activities include the planning, execution, long term issue resolution and development of my apprenticeship.
- NVQ L2 - NVQ L3 - Btec L3 - Progressing to HNC L4 - MJI10 flanged bolting - MEWP training - Laser alignment training - ATEX training - Asbestos removal training - Dry break coupling training
The program has surpassed my expectation from initially starting the apprenticeship. I enjoy my daily work in terms of team work, type of work activities and skills development.
- I do feel a valued member of the team as I work within a local group. - Although its a large organisation I do feel that I am valued to the company and understand how it fit into the bigger picture.
My programme is very organised in terms of onsite training and college studies. The college programme is sometimes compromised in terms of overall organisation which can limit the efficiency of the course progress. Mostly limited to the NVQ qualification.
In terms of 1-1 tutor support, the guidance is very good from experienced tutors. There are some tutors where support is sometimes limited which can hinder programme progress. Compared to my work place, I would approach my company first to resolve a issue rather than the training provider as I feel the support is sometimes limited through the training provider.
I receive very good support from my onsite apprenticeship manager which understands all aspects of my apprenticeship. I cannot fault the overall support of my apprenticeship from onsite colleagues.
I am comfortable with my financial status and the salary package offers me the opportunity to save for my future. I am able to lead a enjoyable life in terms of finance and have never felt financially challenged.
The company does offer many community events that I can get involved with and are always seeking support with upcoming events. The company does offer voluntary events to help the company both onsite and offsite.
Yes
