Control and instrumentation technician. Repairing and carrying out testing and inspections on process plant instrumentation. Interacting with process operators and other engineering staff. Talking to suppliers about their equipment. Responsible for maintaining a COMAH listed plant. Involved in many projects such as replacing redundant equipment and general plant improvements.
Training received on MEWPs, BA, Confined Space Entry, 17th Edition, Asbestos Removal, CPR and Installation of Equipment in Hazardous Areas. NVQ 2&3, Btec 3 and HNC
The team I work with were very welcoming and set me at ease. There is a good culture and plenty of banter. The apprenticeship scheme is very well managed and constructed. I have thoroughly enjoyed the apprenticeship scheme.
I feel very appreciated. We get internal and external recognition, such as apprentice trips and award ceremonies. We are congratulated for our involvement in projects and shutdowns.
The program is extremely well structured
The training provider is Kirklees college. After a few teething problems the college are beginning to get better and improve the schemes.
The support from our employer is extremely good, there is always a friendly face to speak to.
The salary is extremely good and we receive a bonus each year. I have enough spare income to enjoy several hobbies.
We have lots of trips, volunteering opportunities and other activities available to us. We also have quiz nights and other activities.
