I am DGM in a Greene King pub. My tasks are helping my manager, working as a manager when she is not working and control expenses. I am also a bridge between my manager and my team. My responsibilities include the perfect work of the pub or teach my team. I hope can be a manager as good as mine soon. I work in the bar, kitchen, office or any place where I am more necessary.
I have learnt apprenticeship for level 2 in the kitchen as Kitchen Manager and recently level 3 of management as Deputy General Manager. I think I am now more capable to lead my team efficiently, deal with complaints in a better way and my English standard and my maths skills improved as well. Also I learnt how to write an email or letter in a more professional way.
It was a great experience for my personal and professional development. Now I feel more confident in my duties and with the interaction with my team and customers. Also I feel more confident to speak and understand the needs of my manager to guide our pub in the way of success. I did enjoy it.
I am really grateful for the opportunity of envelop my skills to be as good as I can be doing my job. Not only that, now I improved my English standard and my maths which will help me as in as outside of my pub or my job. I hope I will be able to start with another appreticeship program soon.
Everything was very well explain by my mentor and the tasks in paper or computer were easy to follow and understand. My mentor texted me or emailed me depending of the situation and the communication was fluent and efficient always. He scheduled the program and it was easy to follow it. It was my pleasure.
He was very kind, adapting the program to my time and helping every time I needed it. Also he helped me when I had some issues to log on the website of the program. Also my team understood When I was with my tutor and were also very supportive. It was very enjoyable.
My manager was always supportive and helped me adapting our rota for me to attend the program. She was also pleased to help and answer when I had some questions outside of my training with my tutor. The few times I needed help, it was not a problem for her or my mentor to help me.
My living costs are cheap as much as my travel costs, because I live in. The location is good as it is in central London. The salary could be better though. Sometimes I struggle to finish the payment period with some money in my account, as anything you want to do in London is expensive.
The company makes some events and I did participate in a couple of them. Is always fun to do different things with your colleagues. In my personal life I enjoy going to the gym and I participated in some dancing classes. Also I belong to a diving club, as that's my other passion.
