Working on cases with other paralegals, undertaking training, speaking with clients.
I have developed a lot of skills such as confidence, problem solving and these have been helped by my day to day working life. It has been helpful to attend training sessions to build on my knowledge and the general working life helps to build on a variety of skills.
I enjoy the programme very much and, in light that this was an alterative to university, I definitely feel as though I made the correct decision. I am proud to be on this programme and am hopeful for future progression.
I do feel valued by Irwin Mitchell and I think it's a great company to work for. They value staff and have initiatives such as GPTW which encourages staff to vocalise suggestions or concerns. Colleagues have always been friendly and welcoming.
The programme is relatively well structured although there have been some issues with communication and we have often had to chase for answers regarding the direction of the apprenticeship, as mentioned below.
I receive some support from my training provider and have an assessor and tutor which is useful, although we can often be waiting a long time to hear back regarding queries surrounding the general direction of the apprenticeship.
I receive a lot of support from my employer and my line manager encourages me to ask her any queries and rely on her for support. We keep each other up to date.
The salary is a lot better than a lot of people expect for an apprenticeship and I think it reflects the hard work that we put in and we undertake the same (or very similar) tasks as paralegals.
There are opportunities to work with charities and business development opportunities. There are also networking events and class opportunities as well as internal meetings etc.

It's a great company to work for and they value employees. There are regular training opportunities and my line manager is very supportive.
