Commercial assistant type role, reviewing rates on spread sheets, booking meeting rooms, weekly internal team meetings, monthly contractor meetings, auditing contractor applications.
Since day one I have been learning like a sponge, there is probably too much to list. Mainly an understanding of the client/contractor relationship. How to use and understand many programmes, such as Cemar, Excel, Adobe acrobat, (soon to be trained with BIM). Learnt many internal document processes, and how they correspond with different work packages. I am gaining an understanding of becoming a quantity surveyor, but I am also learning a great deal about the roles surrounding a QS within the working team.
Very much so, at times it can become tedious and repetitive, but my team are always giving me more to learn, to keep the ongoing learning progress. Essentially I enjoy the learning of new things constantly.
Considering that I am an apprentice and can voice my concern whenever, people will bend over backwards to assist with any problems.
Very good, jump between different teams on a 6 monthly rotation to obtain as much knowledge of as many aspects of the role, and to learn about the people attached and working with the role constantly.
Whenever it is required, they will help. If I am unable to access their help, there are many others which will lend a hand.
Exactly the same as the answer to 6a.
I have a new born baby and a 4 year old, so living costs are steep currently, but between me and my wife we are getting by.
I have been to two company events with Simone Rossi (CEO) and various press. Once at cannington court to introduce the new CEO to the company and the area, and another at the houses of parliament to meet Simone again, as well as different MPs and other dignitaries.
Yes
I am employed full time on much more than an apprentices usual wage, and my education is being paid for completely. I have all the help I need at work or in college, and if issues arise, our Directors and Executives have told us not to hesitate to contact or visit them. As opportunities go, this one would be difficult to top.
Be yourself, don't pretend to be someone to impress. The people that work here will always help, and there is no such thing as a stupid question.
