  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • So far in my first year of the apprenticeship it's been great, I've met so many kind and welcoming people who want to teach me and help with my learning on the project and lots of my skills are currently being developed. Everyone in the project is really positive and helpful which I'm really thankful for! My expectations have been highly met and I really am enjoying this great opportunity!

  • 4. How valued do you feel by EDF?
  • I always feel so welcomed by everyone in EDF! Everyone values the apprentices significantly as we are the future for EDF which feels great! • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Our Supply Chain Apprenticeship programme is well-structured and we are always kept up-to-date with any changes/alterations. We all had an in-depth training at the start of the apprenticeship and also have consistent training which is required. We have a well-structured programme at college which is going really well and also have great support for if we have any issues, these get addressed quickly!

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I have both a mentor, buddy and line manager which all offer lots of great support! I have monthly meetings with my line manager, mentor and buddy to give any up-dates on the programme or any issues overall which makes me feel very relaxed as I know that If I have an issue, I can go to any of these three and I will get support or guided in the right direction!

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My salary is suitable for my current costs. We are really lucky on this scheme that we receive more than a typical apprenticeship wage which is really appreciated. I also love the fact that our salary is annually reviewed based on performance and progression on the apprenticeship and not forgotten about.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are lots of events outside work which I'm invited to which is great for socialising and meeting more people from EDF! There is always events in my team, for example a skittles event which is done monthly and gets a whole range of people from the project involved. There is apprentice events too outside of work which we organise and that's great for all the apprentices to get together.

  • 9. Would you recommend EDF to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It's a rare and amazing opportunity to receive an insight on the HPC project whilst also achieving a degree too! You get to learn in the workplace and then apply your experiences to the degree which is the most perfect method of learning for me as I can visually see the management of contracts for example, then apply this learning experience to my studies. Also, getting paid to go to university is an amazing opportunity for anyone!

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to EDF?
  • Be yourself, everyone in EDF is so friendly and personality is a significant part of the company which I love! be respectful of others and try and be confident, positive and help out others when needed. Try and involve your past experiences in the workplace to the interview and try hard to work well in a team, but be truthful and show who you are!
