  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • So far my apprenticeship has involved induction into the business and becoming familiar with the different sites where I will be spending the majority of my time. Also I have started to be enrolled on different training courses which will help build my knowledge and familiarity with national grid guidelines, rules and expectations.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, hand skills with Wayne Vickers has been really good and has really helped improved my skills within the workshop.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • So far, the experience has been great with the accommodation being paid for it takes a lot of monetary stresses off of me.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by National Grid?
  • At the moment with national grid putting a lot of investment into all types of training activities is feel very valued also with regards to them covering costs also is great. Also, the care taken by the team at the training Centre is great especially with regards to illness they take great care.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • So far the programme is the first type of this apprenticeship so a lot of the staff are still learning about this programme as are we as apprentices.

  • Currently I receive lots of support from my training provider.

  • Currently I receive lots of support from my employer

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • At the moment the salary is good however, when we have to relocate within our first year of our apprenticeship I think that it will be a struggle.

  • There are a number of activities to do on the evenings at the training centre.

  • Yes

  • So far the salary is competitive and they invest a lot of time money and care into all apprenticeships.
