I am currently acting as a store assistant before starting my management training later on in the year. Therefore, I do the same tasks as other store assistants, for example putting stock onto the shelves, working delivery, maintaing a clean environment ( removing excess card cleaning up spillages ), I often operate a till etc.
Through working at Aldi I have become a more confident person as I am now able to speak to anyone whether it be a customer or colleague and not feel intimidated or scared, before working at Aldi I struggled with communicating with others.
Currently I am really enjoying my apprenticeship, I think it’s good how you learn the basics of working at Aldi first and then build on this knowledge through management training! Also, the wage is a lot better than many other apprenticeships so that’s an added bonus.
I believe that Aldi values all of its employees and understands that people have different needs, I feel valued by my store and really feel like a member of the team! All Aldi staff are really friendly and help one another which is really important.
My apprenticeships is very organised each month I will have an online work booklet to complete for my tutor who will come to see me or ring me the following month. I constantly get feedback from both my store manager and tutor on what I need to do to improve and better myself which is great.
Lifetime training provide a lot of support as they provide links I will need when completeting my online work booklet, there’s a part on ‘FUSE’ that allows you to ask people doing the same programme as you questions if you’re stuck or unsure and my apprenticeship tutor is always willing to help if I’m ever in need!
I find that my work booklets can often be completed without needing help from my employer, but my store manager often asks how I’m getting on and speaks to my tutor when she visits me in store to track my progress.
I’m only 19 so I don’t have very many things to pay for monthly, so my hourly rate is good! I am able to pay for the things I need to and then have spare money to do what I like with.
Yes
Because the wage at Aldi is great compared to other company’s, there’s lots of room for progression and is just generally a great place to work.
Make sure you’re willing to work hard and commit to the hours.
