I am now an assistant senior within audit, leading audits with around 3-5 members of staff below me. Daily tasks include coaching, managing clients expectations, problem solving. As I am more senior I also have the responsibility of developing audit strategies, approach to testing and testing more judgmental areas. I am usually responsible for the day to day running of an audit, reporting directly back to manager or partners. I have been involved with all stages of the audit, attended important client meetings (leading sections) and worked on varying different clients (PLCs, SOX etc.)
I develop skills on a daily basis, working with many different people. I am now much more confident at group speaking and leading teams. I have much more self confidence as EY helps me build on this. I attend many training courses, keeping me up to date with technical changes in reporting standards. I am studing for my ACA, and have already completed CFAB and am time qualified. I have learnt how to problem solve, deal with stress, priororite and become a much more well rounded individual.
I enjoy working with many different people, in many different places. I get on really well with friends i have made within the firm (across all levels) and also enjoy meeting new people. I like how you learn something new every day, and always at different client sites. Having a new born baby, the company is very flexable and promotes flexibile working strongly. I have had a great opportunity to work all over UK, Ireland and also the US.
Managers & partners at EY always show they appreciate the effort you are putting in, and its always a pleasure to be thanked by the client at the end of an audit. If you do well, EY will help you grow by giving you more responsibility, which also mixs the job up.
As there are many employees on my programme across the UK, this progreamme is structured very well.
Support is always available at EY, from colleagues, managers, parters etc. There is always someone to help if you need any additonal training over an area.
As mentioned above, the appropriate level of support is always received and i have not encountered any problems with this.
The expenses which is received covered the travel costs when out at a client site.
EY has a range of people who will help you get involved with anything from sports, to charity participation.
Yes
As it is the best big 4 firm with lots of opportunities.
Try to get as much work experience prior to interviews or assessment days as possible, as it will help you explain where you have demonstated strengths such as problem solving and working within a team.
