Currently nearing completion of my apprenticeship so have now been aligned to the area I will be joining once I have completed. I am involved in all inspection specific roles within the team. Training with a senior inspector to gain the knowledge and understanding I will need once I have a full time role here.
I have my PEO Level 2, BTEC Level 3 from Bridgwater college. Completed framework on site in fitting, inspection and testing of aeronautical engines. Taken courses in many health and safety areas, along with external courses that are specific for my job role in the future.
The programme has been very good and it has been very easy to fit into all the teams I have joined for placements. Making you feel welcome and that you are already part of the team.
I feel valued by the company, the training they have provided has been excellent. I have been lucky enough to represent the company at awards ceremony in both my second and third years.
The programme is well structured and easy to follow, all assessors are keen to help with any problems you have. Support is there when you need it.
I haven't needed to much support during the process but I imagine its easy to obtain. Both the IQA's here on site have been very supportive when questions have arisen about my portfolio and what's needed from it.
I have found that there is a lot of support from my employer, this is in all areas. Employees and managers that are not involved with apprentices are always willing to help and give you time to achieve what is needed and offer support.
I believe that the salary as an apprentice is quite good compared to other employers. The problem arises is the fact that we are based in Bristol one of the most expensive cities outside of London and have found that its very hard to survive on this wage alone whilst living in the city. This only applies if you have had to relocate for the job.
The apprentices association is easy to join and offers' many different events and activities, ranging from social nights out, sports and formal dinners.
Yes
Great company to work for who are keen to develop your skills.
Don't be disheartened by how drawn out the application process is, it will be worth it in the end. Once successful take on as many opportunities as possible to help out.
