i am a store apprentice, in this role i am responsible for ensuring that customers are overall happy with their visit to the store. on a typical day from morning until night their is a set schedule of things to be done. first thing in the morning i have to ensure that all bread, paper and flowers have to be put out on the shelf. i will then go get a till from the office and when i am on a till it is my responsibility to ensure that i am making it as efficient as possible for the customer. during the day when the main order comes in it is my responsibility to make sure the order is out in a reasonable time. once the order is out i move onto de-carding which is tidying up of the shelves. when the store is closing if i am on a till it is my responsibility to clear up the tills, put anything back that is lying around, empty the till bins, put the papers out the back and pull the alcohol forward. if i am off the till then it is my responsibility to tidy up the specials shelving and brush and clean the floor.
i have developed on my peoples skills, i find it a lot easier to chat away to strangers than when i first started. i have also became a lot stronger since i started and can lift a lot more than i used to.
i love coming to work and working with everyone in the store. everyone in our store are a team and it makes work so much better when you have that bond with your colleagues. the work is a lot more physically challenging than i first thought but that adds to it because it makes your shift go faster.
i feel very valued by aldi. our store was recently top in our region for "like aldi tell aldi" and we were awarded £30 vouchers to spend in store for our good work.
in store has been great but the mentor side has been really poor. my original mentor has been off sick for months so when they finally sent a new mentor i had to start everything from scratch because he couldnt get into her work .
my new mentor has been good with emailing me back if i have any questions or if i am stuck.
they have been trying to get the whole situation sorted for months with the mentors and they are the ones who pushed to get a new one sent out
i get paid the same as my friends who are in full time jobs with other companies, so i am more than happy with my pay.
our team go on nights out every so often to keep that bond strong. we were also thinking of doing a sponsored walk to raise money for the charity that aldi is in partnership with "teenage cancer trust"
Yes
i love coming to work, even on the days when im a bit more tired i still enjoy it when i am here. i am always smiling when im here and the people are just amazing
dont stress out about the maths test in the interview. its not as tricky as it seems and you dont have to answer all the questions for them to know where your heads at
