On day-to-day basis I work with BAE Systems employess and they help to teach me new skills by teaching me how to work with aircraft components. These tasks also help to complete my NVQ portfolios. I also have a Further Education day once a week in order for my studies/courses.
I have learnt a great deal of new skills both within engineering and outside of engineering. My practical skills on teh shop floor have been developed as well as my social skills in working with new people. The qualifications such as my NVQ Lvl 2 and 3 in Aeronautical Engineering help greatly towards my career as well as the BTEC coruses I carry out.
I thoroughly enjoy this programme as it gives me opportunities to work with employess already on the shop floor. This gives me a chance to work in a team I have never been in before and so this helps evelop my confidence in the workplace. The work itself is intensive enough for me to be busy all day and have enough evidence for my NVQ portfolio. The course has exceeded my expectations greatly.
I feel very valued by BAE Systems, this is due to the amount of help given to me by other employees and also being recognised for my work in the workplace. The managers of the areas I work in have always appreciated and expressed their appreciation.
I feel the course is extremely well organised and I have enough training, ability and support to get through the course with no problem.
I recieve a great deal of support from my supervisor and the workers I am working with. This support helps to aid me in my apprenticeship and in the work that I carry out.
I recieve a great deal fo support from my employer also. My employer/manager constantly keeps a regular check on my progress throughout the day and I am able to complete the work to a high standard.
The salary/package meets my costs well. This is due to the fact I am still living at home so a lot of the money that I recieve is saved.
Outside of work there are some opportunities such as the Charity Challenge Voluntary Activities. There are also other opportunities such as the sports club and occasionally company activities.
Yes
The apprenticeship from BAE Systems is extremely helpful in providing myself with the right qualifications and experience to achieve a job in Aeronautical Engineering. The skills acheived can also be transferred into my day-to-day life outside of work such as teh social skills granted by my apprenticeship.
I would say that in your applciation to BAE Systems ensure that you are stating your passion about engineering and state the real reason why you feel you want to go into this field and how this will benefit yourself and the company.
