Each day we would individually enter a new department and assist trainee solicitors with their role. This could include summarising documents or cases, checking or tying up transcripts, inputting data etc. On a daily basis we would have one-to-one meetings and de-briefing sessions with the trainees, as well as working closely with them. Most mornings we also had a talk from different departments and about Pinsent Masons in general.
As well as learning to work individually, to deadlines and directly for another person, I have been able to develop my ability to work in a team. We were frequently asked to work as a team on different projects, for example we were given a fake situation in which we were required to make a decision as a team on how best to approach it.
I really enjoyed the week, I especially enjoyed meeting the other students on the programme, as well as the incredibly friendly and welcoming trainee solicitors. The programme turned out to be more useful and informative than I expected. Most importantly there was a clear focus on showing us exactly what being a trainee solicitor would entail, as well as explaining more about the process from here on with regards to university. The advice given was very useful.
The whole company was very friendly. The trainees made us feel extremely valued.
We were given a well structured timetable in which we had a morning talk from trainees and then an afternoon spent in different departments.
The trainees that we met every day acted as a mentor and point of contact for that day, and we were introduced to their supervisors. I personally felt the trainees were friendly enough to engage in a normal conversation. I also felt I could ask them questions when I felt I needed to. One thing that was evident was that they made time for us, making us feel valued.

Pinsents was a very friendly company and an excellent week of work experience. The week made it so much easier to come to a conclusion about a future career in law.
