I am a Support Engineer on a small team, managing ALM applications for several large clients. I have the freedom to get involved and sometimes lead projects and tasks, and provide end user support too. I am given the freedom to manage my own time.
I have learnt lots of new skills in my role, which I would have never learnt at University. My company values my development and will happily pay for any training that I need to improve technically or personally. I am ITIL v3 qualified and I am currently going for vendor qualifications too.
I enjoy my work and the team that I work with.
I feel valued and respected in Capgemini. I am not treated like an apprentice - I am just another member of the team and I really appreciate that. On top of regular pay reviews and promotion opportunities, my team do show their appreciation and I feel part of the team.
The programme is pretty flexible which is good because it fits around my work.
QA assign a specific skills coach to be your point of contact with any questions or queries, and come and meet with you on a regular basis to see how you are getting on.
My team support me in my degree in any way they can - if that is financially to travel to lectures/workshops, or otherwise in terms of study leave.
Very well - I live at home :)
There is a GAP community which you can get along with, and also various Capgemini initiatives to get involved in.
Yes
Value and invest in employees, pay well (especially apprentices and grads) and you learn a whole lot more than going to university.
More than anything, show your enthusiasm. The application process is skills based and as long as you show you are enthusiastic and willing to learn, you will get on well.
