We undertook the role if trainee so were assigned tasks that they themselves would complete and even had some of out work used. A lot of our role was researching different aspects of different laws for our department, something I found very interesting.
Practically, I was able to develop my research skills throughout the tasks I was assigned. On top of this, I was able to improve my typing skills. I feel that my communication and team work skills benefitted from this experience, whether it was working with the other students in the business task or communicating with other team members.
I found my programmes quite enjoyable. My favourite area was Property because I feel that the tasks I was assigned explained the role to me the most clearly. I also enjoyed the social aspect of meeting and talking to new people, both other students and trainees.
I felt very valued by Pinsent Masons as I felt I was given enough responsibility to feel valued. The fact that our work was actually used and the feedback we received, affirms that Pinsent Masons really does value all their employees, even Work Experience Students.
The programme could have been organised slightly better, although I understand that there was an unexpected absence and this affected the timetable that was organised. Some presentations were also assigned too much time, so I think a review of this would be beneficial. Overall though, the programme flowed well.
All the staff I encountered went out of their way to help me if needed which I really appreciated. It eased any initial anxieties of taking part in the programme and I didn’t feel at any point that I couldn’t ask for help or advice.
I would reiterate my reply in 6a, I felt that I received ample support from both the PRIME programme and Pinsent Masons and knew I could ask as many questions as I needed.
Any costs were covered by the company which was much appreciated.
This experience has exposed me to networking opportunities that I know will come in useful for me in the future.
Yes
It provides a generally nice atmosphere to work in. The people were helpful and approachable and it seems like a positive company to work for.
Just to be themselves, as it’s something that Pinsent Masons takes a real interest in. Also, try to make yourself stand out, as it shows you have something to bring to the company.
