I was tasked with mostly researching tasks into topics regarding legislation and issues related to the work that the supervisors were doing in different departments. There were also other activities surrounding law, in particular a mock employment tribunal. There were also a series of presentations that introduced you to the world of law and also how to enter the legal career.
Different research techniques, and how to quickly research as well. Communication skills as well, especially considering the professional environment.
I thorough enjoyed learning about the different areas of commercial law. The people there were very friendly and helpful as well as the other students that were taking part in the work experience too.
The supervisors were very friendly and helpful. They were engaged with my experience and offered explanations for topics that I was unfamiliar with.
There was a clear timetabled schedule, so everyone knew where they were supposed to be at what time and what was going to be happening that day.
Most of the time I was left to my own devices and got on with the work. But when I asked for help, they eagerly and helpfully provided it.
The HR department kept us all informed and provided us with all the information that we needed.
Due to it being work experience, there was no payment. But lunch was provided via £5.00 vouchers for the canteen which was more than enough.
I did not personally get involved in any activities due to the short period, but we were informed of all the different activities that are available to the staff there, such as a netball team and yoga.

It is a internationally known law firm that offers a great insight into commercial law. The work experience programme is well-thought out and it is a great introduction for those who are toying with the idea of wanting to have a legal career.
Use this opportunity to ask as many questions you can. It is a great way of discovering the different options that are available to you. Make the most of it.
