I am a Project Controller working on Hawk In Service Support. Tasks vary on a day to day basis meaning that there is always something new and interesting to look at and to work on. In my current role, tasks can include looking at budget and spend models, organising and attending project meetings with key stakeholders and investigating issues that may arise amongst other things. My role holds responsibilities as every other role in the business does, everyone plays there part and it is important that for example monthly reporting tasks are done on time and accurately to ensure that finance have the correct input from us to do the next part of the job.
I am always learning new skills in my job. When i joined my role, one of the first things my collegues said to me whas 'Every day is a school day here' and they aren't wrong. Whether you are going to other sites to learn and see how parts or made or if you are being familiarised on the aircraft or whether you are picking up a new job that requires a new set of skills, I always feel like I am learning new things in my role and developing what I already know.
I really enjoy my job, everyone I work with is really supportive of the corse and try to do everything in order to help you develop in the workplace. When i was coming into the job, I didn't really know what to expect but after spending nearly 8 months in the job I already know that I have made the right choice coming on this course.
I feel very valued by BAE Systems. If you do the work to the best of your ability and try your hardest you will be recognised for your efforts and it does not go unnoticed, whether is be by collegues or by your management everyone shows appreciation when you show willing in what you do.
My programme is very structured, it is what you expect from a big proffesional company like BAE Systems and is shows in how proffesional the course is ran.
The training provider is very good on the whole. All training that I have recieved has been good and I feel that i have benefitted from it all.
I feel that all the support you could need is provided by the employer. If you have any sort of problem they show the willing and determination to get it sorted as best as they can. Support processes such as being given a designated mentor are in place to ensure that your time on the course runs as smoothly as they can make it.
The salary on the course is very good, all of my costs are covered by it comfortably which allows me to live without the worries of debt and struggling for money between pay days. It is important to note aswell that your pay is constantly up for review every 6 months and there a rises and bonuses in place that come around yearly also.
There are plenty of things going on outside of work. for example on my site in Samlesbury there are sports facilities and a gym with associations with the company.
Yes
This is a great job with a solid foundation and endless potential, it really is a great opportunity and one that should not be missed.
Take your time with your application, and make sure you tell the truth no matter what. Weaknesses are not always a bad thing, when identifying them, you are showing not only that you have the ability and drive to try and overcome these but also that you know you can improve and go on to better things.
