My Job role is Global HR Business partner. My daily tasks vary massively but at the core all revolve around the people of our business. weather its helping them with employment related issues, learning and development or managing their data within the business. I work across many teams globally in our hubs such as India and Brazil which means I interact with hundreds of people a week. As part of my role I don't work with external vendors much although I do go to outreach days presenting to people about Unilever as a business and as well our apprenticeship scheme! Being in HR has enabled me to work with teams on projects both in and outside of HR supporting them or helping to drive the actual goals of the project which bring exciting new work and great new people to work with.
While on my apprenticveship scheme I have developed skills and also learned new ones. key skills such as time management, public speaking and interpeersonal skills have all been masively developed on the apprenticeship. I have also learned lots of new skills such as data base management and excel skills which have helped me massively in my role and will continue to do so in the future. I have opportunitys to go to internaol and excternal training events in all sorts of areas of work, most recently i was opart of a training group leanring about UK Employment law and case management! All of this alongside my studies which works towards a Level 3 Qualification in Business and administration.
I wasnt sure at firsty about working in HR as I didnt think it was for me but I soon changed my mind when I started working and met my team. I love what I do and the people I do it for. My team I work alongside are great fun and really supportive of me when I need some help and guidance too. Unilver drives a great working culture that is dynamic and fun. I didnt expect this when I applied for the apprenticeship but this soon chnaged when I first visited the work place and met some of the great people at Unilever.
Recognition is something we all like to receive when we have done a good job, my manager in ioncredibly supportive of me and is always sharing feedback with me from herself or others who have reached out to her. I have received great external feedback from events I have attended as well which is great to see and give you a real feeling of success.
My programme is very well structured and layed out. from my induction it was claer to me what I should expect on my programme as well as when to expect this. My studies as well as my reviews were very clearly outlined and shared with me which has helped my to plan and ensure I meet all my deadlines but also never get surpirsed by something I wasnt expecting. My manager made it her mission when I joined the team to share with me how things were structured and who everyone was and what they do within the team as well which helped me to settle really fast.
I have regular meetings with my training provider face to face but also have a 24hr line of contact with them which means I always have a constant network of support. This means any questions or concerns I have can be dealt with really fast and effectively.
Unilever gives me endless support with work or any issues I might be having within or outside of work. My team are fantastic and my manager is excellent at helping me and being a fantasic mentor. She is always happy to help me and will always make time to sit and talk with me as a priority if we need to.
My salary is very good and very competitive. It covers all of my costs socially and living costs. My travel costs are covered by the busienss through our exspenses policy which means that I am remeberesed for business related expenses.
Their are always opportunites outside of work both social and busines. I am part of the outreach team which means I attend school ad college talks to promote apprenticeships to young people which is great fun. I have also taken part in volunteering with my team which is a great way to detach from work and help others.
