My job title is a tax adviser. My daily tasks include preparing VAT returns and other ad hoc tasks as and when required. I regularly have interaction with my colleagues either through team meetings or cace-to-face discussions but there is less interaction externally.
I am currently working towards a VAT Diploma and will commence my college studies in early May when I will begin to study for my ATT qualification. I have also attended many internal training courses that are aimed to boost my technical knowledge.
I enjoy working with my team and find it rewarding when all of my allocation each month has been prepared and filed on time. I also enjoy interacting with other colleagues either in work or outside of work.
I feel valued when I do a piece of work and get encouraging feedback from the reviewer. This tells me that they appreciate my work and gives me the confidence to know that what I am doing is right.
The 2 year programme is very structured and there are many different people available for me to talk to if I have any problems. The 'buddy' system that PwC use is in my opinion the most important as it provdes the new joiner with a person to ask any questions they may have and the 'buddy' is usually someone who is of a similar age and has simliar levels of experience.
There is a great deal of support networks in place. I regularly have contact with my assessor for the HA Diploma. This is either through the form of a phone call or a face-to-face meeting. My colleagues are also extremely helpful and have ensured that my knowledge has increased significantly compared to when I started.
The culture in my offcie is one that is aimed at helping others and this has benfited me immensely over the first 8 months. I receive a great deal of support and encouragement from my manager and other colleagues which has helped me to settle in well.
Currently my salary is very low but this is to be expected on an apprenticeship. No doubt this will increase over time as I become more qualified.
The firm organises one day a year where people are allowed the opportunity to volunteer for a local charity. As well as this there are many sports clubs available to participate in.
Yes
Extremely repuytable company that provides an excellent place to progress.
Be yourself and don't pretend to be someone you're not. Make sure you have prior experience of working in a professional environment, even if it only part-time.
