I was allocated in COTT in EY and I was working on the GDPR project. This involved outlining what GDPR was and how this affects individuals, and how EY ensured that they are fully compliant with GDPR. It was an internship and some tasks were going to internal, external and client meetings. I hosted some presentations on my experience and my research in front of some directors of the firm.
Attained a Level 2 qualification in Introduction to Team Building, developed my network, developed my presentation skills, collaborative skills, intuition and resourcefulness with the adaptable ability to follow and respond effectively in ad-hoc situations. Additionally, it as increased my business and global acumen of the firm. This experience has clearly epitomised my resilience to carry out tasks and objectives.
Mixed teams throughout the first week which allowed me to discover something new about each person I met. I has also help developed my confidence skills and my ability to encounter people in a calm, collective and professional manner. In the second week I was appointed to a buddy which was helpful as they guided me through how the firm operated in various sectors and how their culture intertwines with their delivery which indicates a enthusiastic work ethic culture.
It was great meeting employees form various different areas from EY. Getting to see people from Tax, Assurance, Advisory was great as it showed how each area is interdisciplinary with each other in the values they deliver. I felt very valued and appreciated as I have developed lifelong skills and feore motivated to work in the future.
Well structured. It was more teamwork and collaboration with people with presentations given on networking and developing key skills in the working world. In the second week it was more independence, with a real feel of how a typical day of an employee of EY might be. There was an itinerary of what will be covered in the first week, but not so much in the second week.
I received a good amount of support during my experience and I am hoped to receive 10 months more with an assigned mentor who works in cyber security. They help more with advice, tips and guidance for ensuring the best performance in the workplace. In addition to this, they offer support for applications such as UCAS planning and other work related opportunities.
During the two weeks they were on call for any help and assistance I may need. although I have finished, they provide advice and tips with their alumni for many other opportunities that may arise in the future. The assistance is of excellent quality and that is expected of a top professional firm. I am glad to work in cooperation with them
I believe that it was reasonable. However, I do understand that in the three weeks of experience, students do get paid more. What would have been better is if they had paid for two weeks considering that there is pay for bank holiday as then it would account for two weeks worth of pay, rather then nine days. But I do not have a problem so it is okay.
Given the scope of time, I believe that there were not many opportunities outside of work. The reason for this is because I signed a contract saying that my work shift ends at 4.30 and I cannot stay longer than that. However, in line with the programme, there was a graduation event that was from 1700 hrs to 1900 hrs so I guess it was reasonably fair.

It is an insightful opportunity to work in a firm that it world-renowned as on of the Big Four. The people you meet will give you a lasting impression and you will be able to establish, develop and maintain networks that are a key asset in the future.
Know the firm well. Know the people well. Know the work well.
