Commercial Strategy Executive, promotional planning, customer orientated but internal facing. Follow a 4 week cycle with set responsibilities week to week from preparing to run meeting to being a valid attendee to meetings. Work mainly on Tea (PG tips being the main brand) working with the Team and being the middle man between brand, supply and account teams on a long term planning side.
Attended multiple internal courses to develop my skills. Excel being a main on with 3 different levels offered at Unilever. Other internal training more specific to the role to help me grasp the responsibilities and duties I have. Also attended training on negotiation which will help massively in the future.
The Tea Team is brilliant to work with, they are all friendly and happy to help in anyway they can. Still having a good social side to it with the Team. The organisation is full of approachable and helpful people from other apprentices right up to VPs and higher. Everyone seems really easy to work with and full of information making the time here comforting and enjoyable.
Even though I am an apprentice, I feel very valued at Unilever however, this could be due to my job role. I can see the work I create get used in decisions for the Tea team from meeting I attend right up to meeting I hear about.
Very well structured from work to the apprenticeship program. Since joining there has always been someone to help and there is a clear structure from how things work to what training to do. With the apprenticeship work I have a great structure with my manager (can be different with other managers) where I am allowed a structured 20% of the week to do the work and if more is needed I can make arrangements to get the apprentice work done.
Huge support, they're accessible when ever I have a question and always have a good answer. Regular skype calls set up covering anything I have going on. Really good with advice and marking on the coursework.
Huge support from my manager and other people in the office. everyone here seems happy to share their knowledge and wisdom which is great when I am trying to grow. Everything is accessible here at Unilever you just need to go looking for it.
The salary is very competitive for the area, whilst I still live at home with my parents it covers all costs. I think it would be hard to live else where. Travel for me is covered easily.
100% there are so many after work social opportunities from drinking to Gym sessions to sports games, you just need to attend them. I have done so much with the team the apprentice and people I have met here at Unilever. In the next week I am doing a Tough Mudder with 15 people from work.
Yes
Unilever is a great organisation and if you can get a job out of it that is security for life. Great place to work and make friends.
Be yourself, the more you be yourself the better you will fit in. Situation dependent but attend as much outside work events as possible keep say yes (unless no is the right answer).
