I was enrolled on the Smart futures scheme, so day to day work was complete different. The first 2 weeks involved learning new skills applicable for use in business. The final week was the most engaging as we were placed in a placement in one of the departments, I ended up in audit.
We were taught many skills and how to hone them in for a professional environment. A wealth of information was given to us, as was the time to practice and employ them on the final week.
I really did enjoy my experience. Staff were very welcoming and engaging. Individuals all over the office spoke to you and everyone was generally very friendly. However, when we came to our week in placement, I ended up at clients were there was pressure on the staff. No one really had the time for me and giving me a task to do seemed to be more of a hassle for them than any actual aid
On the smart future programme, they aim to develop you into a future business leader. So to some extent you feel really valued as they are potentially giving you an initial step in the door.
Very well structure, each day had a specific plan and task to complete. They took us out into Manchester and welcomed us all. They also set deadlines of when things needed to be completed.

Payment was in a lump sum from the 3 weeks. They also paid for or rembursed us for any train tickets or travel costs to get to the clients
