I work as a Transport Planner, i deal first hand with drivers on a day to day basis, i use AS400 and ISOTRAK. I allocate units and trailers using these programms throughout the day. I also track trailers to ground them for either service or MOT, this is an updated list weekly.
Since i have moved to depot i am learnt in much more depth how to use AS400 and ISOTRAK, this enabling me to do more and be more invloved with the team and the drivers. I am currently working towards NVQ in Logistical Frameworks Level 2, as part of this i have compleated an exam in IT, though donig this exam i have learnt a few more skills in IT especially the programm Exell. I also feel i am more confident in speaking to people and getting problems solved under pressure.
I enjoy my programm as every day something different happens, also throughout the year the company have peak times this makes the job exciting and for ever changing.
I do feel valued by GIST as i am on a devolpment programm, this has helped me as i have just received a promotion and am now a transport planner.
I feel my programm is structed well (as in my NVQ) however i feel more than one workshop of a couple of hours a month could be increased. I also feel i need time away from the job maybe once or twice a month to sit down and do my course work or revision or whatever work i have to do towards my NVQ. Within the job i feel it is structered well, as i am always learning something new towards the job every day.
I receive a once a month workshop with lasted 2/3 hours, i also receive frequent emails throughout the time betweek workshops. I feel the workshops could be increased to maybe 2/3 a month.
I receive alot of suppoart from my employer reguarding the job, i have reguarlar CPC's with my manager and mentor these happen around once a month. But reguarding the NVQ i feel a bit on my own.
I salary meets my costs
