On the first day of the work experience we had a introduction to EY about their values, partners and the different sections of their company such as consultation and tax. Then we had lessons about different aspects of a business working environments. Then we had dragons den and the second week of the experience was work experience.
I have developed my public speaking shills and improved my confidence when meeting new people and talking to more experienced senior workers.
The experience was very useful but was also enjoyable as we continuously completed ice breakers which allowed us to interact with all the new people that we met during the experience and we had very good teamwork skills by the end of the first week. It exceeded my expectations of how we were given lesson rather than just sitting there doing written work that does not benefit us.
I felt very valued through the work experience as all of the employs that we met during the work experience treated us like we were qualified workers and we were also given the freedom of leaving the building or walking around at lunch just like the rest of the workers at the workplace.
The programme was very well structured as we had a clear manual of day to day tasks that was followed in the two weeks which allowed me to always be prepared for the next day. They also gave us any necessary support throughout the training.
We were given booklets that explained to us about how to complete all of the given tasks and we were also given support for any of the queries that we had by our manager and supervisor.
we received full support from the manager of our groups and we were also introduced to our mentors that we have till the end of the year who will help us navigate through our a level experience.
the salary was very good considering the qualification that we training as well as the work experience and business tips however since I had to travel by train I had a lot of travel costs but I was very happy with the pay.
we were able to complete out second week of work experience in a partner of EY and I completed my work experience in the Cabinet Office which gave me a very unique experience that I would not have been able to receive without this opportunity. From the Cabinet Office I also had the chance of vising some of the other governmental departments such as Education, Home Office and the Ministry of Justice.
Yes
it is a very unique and useful experience that has helped me develop a lot of new skills that would not be possible without this experience.
I would just tell any future participants to always bring all of their unique personality to the application, interview and the working days as this is something that the EY seems to fully embrace and support.
