Detail Designer working on a CAD based system.
More soft skills for use in business as opposed to engineering skills. Learning how to work with others in a business sense has been invaluable. HNC/SVQ in engineering systems was completed... but next to no use in day to day activities.
I was disappointed with final placement, no options offered, only detail design.
Not especially. Usually made to feel like a burden of extra work for both development manager and placement manager. Day to day tasks are menial, no satisfaction from completing them.
Very structured, but not very well organised. Once a decision has been made, that it final and there is no discussion with the apprentice on placements or work area.
None from training provider, but constant liaison with training officer responsible. He will help if he can.
Similar to being valued, if you ask for help you will receive, but if you don’t, you will be treated as if you don’t exist.
Not even close. Last 2 years are ok, but you will struggle in year 1&2. Year 1 - £9,500 Year 2 - £14,000 Year 3 - £18,000 Year 4 - £22,000 Finish - £28,000
No, but there are charity opportunities within the business.
No
Because with hindsight I wouldn’t do it again.
Be aware of where the business currently is in terms of projects and workloads. You will become a detail designer for the next XX number of years if you apply.
