My day to day experience was varied and very exciting. The apprenticeship was over a 3 week period and each week was clearly set out. A week for Ice breaking and meeting all of the other successful applicants who are all from different backgrounds and parts of England. The Second week was then meant for taking part in workshops and learning all about Ernst & Young and all of the different sectors. And finally the 3rd week where we took part in a work experience working with real life clients of EY.
We practised networking and public speaking all of the time. Every week we were thrown into different scenarios with a variety of special guests and speakers coming in to help us and provide us with inspiration to learn and take more away from the workshops.
Meeting new people is scary and the prospect of doing it across 3 weeks is daunting. However meeting new people all the time is apart of life and with everyone being in the same position as you you find that everyone will want to talk because you’ll Have to to get the most out of the 3 weeks. So don’t worry about it everyone will be in the same position as you and with all the staff and guests around they’ll provide ample opportunities to talk about interesting topics and real life scenarios which open your mind to different ways of thinking.
Incredibly. To be a 16 year A level student working in a firm such as EY on the river Thames was amazing. Only when I look back at the occasion do I realise how lucky we were and how big of an effort EY put in for us to experience something new and make it seem as though it’s not impossible to work in such a large firm even though most applicants come from varying backgrounds and oppurtunities are hard to come by.
Very well organised. As I outlined earlier. There was a clear structure from the get go with all applicants Informed on the first day on how the programme would play out. The day starts at roughly 9am and finishes at 16:30 so students who apply can get a real feel for how it is to work as a full time employee across the 3 weeks. Real preparation for the future.
Other than when you’re left to you’re own devices you always have a point of contact nearby to help you with your tasks or anything else you may need. Everyone is always super social and there to support you with anything you made need. Ranging from the best approach to a possible scenario or when we finish for lunch today. They never mind and are specialists in what they do so best to get as much knowledge from them as possible.
The head of the programme was very social so expect to be well looked after.
I was paid £650 for the 3 weeks which given than we were 16 years felt like good money. However we were expected to pay for our travel costs which varies from how easily accessible public transport is for you so you may find you spend a lot travelling each day depending on how far away you live from the firms location.
Depends on how much effort you put into the 3 week programme. Those who strive to do the best and are really social and willing to try new things will find that people will remember your name. If that’s the case then you can expect oppurtunities outside of the programme.
Yes
Really enjoyable. Good pay and a worthwhile experience.
Be energetic, don’t be afraid of anything this is your oppurtunity to leave whoever you are at home behind and become someone who is ready and always willing to learn. If you can put aside Any fears or worries you have about the prospect of being in a room of strangers for 3 weeks then you will find you will have an amazing experience. Be kind and polite also, I’m just saying this because this isn’t college or Sixth form, you’re working in a big big firm so don’t mess up your moment by being rude to anybody. Other than that have fun and learn a lot
