My Job was to work within the finance department where my daily tasks was to use high level programmes to carry out calculations regarding revenue, profits and working capital. I also had the chance to job rotate across the different finance teams which gave me a chance to experience first hand what it like working within the finance sector.
I was able to gain a Chartered Management Institute Qualification which allows me to display on my CV my management and leadership skills. From this experience I was also able to develop my communication and feedback skills which has enabled me to network successfully with people I have not met before in my life. It has also allowed me to further develop existing relationships as I have become more conscious through the constant self reflection of the learning logs. I was also trained to carry out metric calculations regarding the company which is transferable to my current A level of business studies.
I really enjoyed the programme due to the relaxed company culture and it exceeded my expectations. I genuinely thought the week was to be boring and long but it surprised me with the thorough and well planned activities. I was also able to meet new people which I was able to express common interests with. This programme is also full of helpful and courteous staff who are always willing to answer any question which we have. In addition the programme was extremely fun and would recommend it to anyone who requires work experience.
I constantly felt valued by EY through the involvement within important tasks and projects. I was able to work on confidential projects which demonstrated their high levels of trust and faith in me, which I do not receive at school. I was also valued by EY through constant constructive feedback where I would receive positive and also improvement points. I also felt valued through internal recognition as I received a report of my performance.
It was organised as there was support for working towards our qualification. This was seen through one on one support and also through a mentor system. I felt the programme was organised as every hour of the day I had a task to do. I felt that this allowed me to be productive as I was able to utilise the full work experience through different activities. Also during the business experience work when I was in the finance department I received powerpoints summarising their different operations and guidelines to the job, which made me feel as if it was a permanent contract
I had a lot of support and it was easily accessible. It was a relaxed environment which allowed me to ask questions without feeling awkward. I was also able to easily skype message or email any employee concerning my work which allowed me to contact them at any time in order to receive help. I would say the support is immense and you can feel that they genuinely want us to enjoy the experience. I thought their attitude was excellent and a perfect example for all employees to exemplify.
I receive a lot support from my employer. This is seen as I was assigned a mentor for 10 months. This mentor allows me to develop a personal relationship which will guide me not only on the job but after I leave the work experience. On the job I received guidance with problems regarding my job duties on the day and they were able to adapt towards my interests and needs. This is seen as they did not force me to do too much work unrelated to my career interests. This is seen as I told them explicitly not to give me too many hours in robotics and they listened to me. But it was not like they didn't support me during my robotics session and they made sure I understood the importance in technological advancement.
The pay was extremely good as it is above the national minimum wage for our age band. The pay package is at a high rate than most part time job which demonstrates that they value us work experience employees highly. It covered for the cost of travel and the location either way is in central london which means it is not expensive to get to. Either Way the pay is quite high and I believe that all work experiences should have a good pay package like EY. The wage is also above an apprenticeships minimum wage which is great.
Yes this is seen through company alumni events and also different work related opportunities being emailed to me. Before I had work experience at EY I did not have any experience working.
Yes
It is a fun and great way to develop your personal and business skills. It will also reward you for your efforts through a pay package. Through this programme you will also develop your finance knowledge and also evaluate your strengths and weakness. Als within the work experience you are supported constantly and made to feel like a family with the other students on work experience. In addition why I would recommend the programme,it is because it will allow you to have a mentor at your disposal which will help you with your CV,Personal Statement and more.
I would advise you to thoroughly research the company and to also learn how to use the STAR technique when answering phone interview question. I also advise you during the application process to really sell yourself and to show why you deserve a place on the programme. In addition I would advise you to review sample interview question and to have a standard answer for them. But mostly importantly just enjoy the process as it is a realistic application process designed to give you experience when you are to apply for another job
