I am a Technical Apprentice at BAE Systems. I am not however onsite but rather away from the business at Hull College. I go to lessons regularly every day, lessons such as: Aeronautical Studies, Communications, Design, Electrical and Further Electrical Principles, Maths and Further Maths, Electronic Circuits, Engineering Drawing, FS ICT, Health & Safety, Materials and Sheet Metal Work.
I am currently working on the BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Engineering & Level 3 NVQ in Engineering Technical Support at Hull College. I have learnt new engineering knowledge and skills and have improved as a team worker and communicator.
I really enjoy the programme it is interesting and challenging and I couldn't ask for more.
Very valued, the company makes sure we know what is going on in the company and makes regular visits to check on our progress and our well being.
The programme is new so there have been changes to lesson times as well as changes to tutors which can be distruptive, however I realise the course is new.
I feel that I recieve full support from Hull College.
I feel that I recieve full support from BAE Systems.
My salary meets my costs very well.
There are a variety of company events and social clubs that we can become a part of. At present it is difficult due to us being away from the company but when we return there are a whole host of activities we can be a part of.
Yes
BAE Systems is an outstanding company who already have a brilliant reputation in the community. Having become a part of the company that reputation is well deserved and I have been treated extremely well by the company and would recommend BAE Systems to anyone as it is a fantastic company to work for who treats all employees the right way.
My advice would be to try your best in all of the aptitude tests and interviews, to be polite and well mannered as well as to show an interest in the company and their work. Most importantly I would say, show a willingness to work and to learn.
