My role at work is a Public Health Revit Technician. I design Above and sometimes Below ground drainage systems on Autodesk Revit. Below ground drainage is 'Civils' with Above Ground Drainage and rainwater being done by the Public Health team. On some projects the client will ask the public health team to design the domestic services as well (Hot & Cold water systems) but this is not all the time.
Yes i have massively widened my knowledge on the moddeling software i use every single day called Revit. I also have improved on excel and other databasing softwares are in went on a two day ict skils course. I have also learnt about a few up and coming softwares such as Revitzo, Navisworks and Enscape.
I think it is very well structured and i am enjoying my progression.
I feel like i am a valued part of the team even though my lack of experience relative to some of my collegues, if i have an idea it is never ignored and is valued like everyone elses. I feel like i am given a fair and equal chance to voice my opinion in situations such as team meetings and general discussions.
The structure is great. we are provided with adequate training and support needed to progress at an acceptable rate to ensure that i continue to learn throughout my apprenticeship. It provides a clear outline of where i should be at certain points throughout my apprenticeship in order to ensure that i remain on track.
From my line manager and mentor i recive all the help i could ask for. My learning partener is very useful at explaining tasks that i have never done before and in a way that i find easy to remember. I also feel like if no one in my team can answer my question i will always know who to ask.
I receive all the support that i require. if i ever feel like a part of my knowledge is slacking then i can be put on training courses in order to ensure that i do not hit a wall with my learning. Furthermore Arup has an in house library where you can get some sources or pieces of text that you require wheter that is for project or educational work.
I feel like it is fair for the job that i do.
Yes there are a vast array of out of work activities for employees to partake in. Also many charity events.
Yes
It is a great place to work and it provides you with many benefits such as free private health care, dental carer and many more. the people in the office are all really helpful and create a great working atmosphere no matter what the task is that you are completing.
Be confident and show enthusiasm in the job role you are applying for. Maybe mention renewable construction methods and energy sources, this is because as a cpompmay this is what Arup strive to do as much as possible. mention an enthusiasm to learn and be inquisitive; they dont expect you to be an expert as soon as you start.
