I am an associate within the audit team. This involves really getting involved in the day to day functions of Deloitte. My usual say would start at 8:00 where I clear up my emails and get up to date on the international news. Then at 8:45 audit starts. My day is filled with meetings, client interactions and team updates to our senior management. My responsibilities involve catering and ensuring that the junior grades are comfortable with their work. Also I need to ensure that my work is completed.
I developed a whole range of skills since starting the apprenticeship. Such as ; communication, leadership, teamwork, proactivity and confidence. As well as these skills I have developed my technical knowledge and awareness of how the entity and financial markets operate. I am now aca certificate level qualified and I have a level 4 apprenticeship qualification. Deloitte has also motivated me to complete extra external training and I have now obtained the sharia finance certificate as well. I have also had the chance to use my other languages and develop them at work. The languages I can speak are Arabic, urdu, english, hindi, punjabi, farsi and a little bit of spanish.
I extremely enjoy my prorgramme and I cant express enough graititude towards Deloitte because they have been extremely supportive along the way. The culture of the company is amazing and the employees within the firm are even better. Especially the partners who are really welcoming. Also it is the best of both worlds because I have been given responsibility as I would have when I was at university
I feel that I am an integral part of the team and I am praised for the work I complete. My company values me because they tell you how important you are to their success and show their appreciation through pay increases, flexibility in your work schedule or other concrete ways. Also Deloitte are every considerate of personal time and commitments, this is extremely rare considering the nature of the industry.
The programme does need a little more structre to it. This is because our level 4 apprentice qualification was organised last minute and has lead to more frequent and closer deadlines. In addition, the programme needs to be clearly communicated at the beginning because upon joining we were informed of having to complete 17 exams within 4 years.
We are given more than enough support from BPP. This is because BPP provide a tutor on hand at all times to answer queries, especially outside of working hours. Moreover the staff at BPP are extremely friendly and accomodating. We are also given an on hand tutor who we can speak to if we have any non technical related queries.
Too much! We are allocated buddies, coaches and performance evaluation leader within the firm. We can also go to anyone regarding queries because everyone is very welcoming. Furthermore we receive support from our partners on the engagement who are more than understanding of any exstenuating circumstances.
Although we would all love our salary to be higher. I am reasonably content with the salary I am receiving because I am thankful that I have a job and I can pay all necessary bills and have money for savings. At this stage in my career and professional development I do not perceive the salary to be a motivating factor, rather the expertise and qualification gained will be the contributing factor.
A lot of extra curricular activities such as cricket, football and other social events. All people are enoouraged to join these events and take part. Furthermore, we are encouraged to get in contact with our deloitte contacts outside of work and I have built a large circle of work friends. We often get to together and meet up on the weekends to socialise. This leads to greater efficiency within the team and promotes the teams harmony.
Yes
An amazing place to work with a sizzling and vibrant culture. Furthermore Deloitte has a long list of opportunities awaiting you and Deloitte can cater for your careeer progression regardless of the field you wish to join. Coupled with being the top professional services firm in the world, Deloitte offers a clear promotional structure and we are well informed about what we need to do to obtain a promotion.
Really make your application stand out by showing genuine enthusiasm and really go into the interview having researched Deloitte. Do sufficient research into the field you are applying for and furthermore, always have sensible questions to ask the interviewer at the end. The main thing that is being assessed from an interview is can I work with this individual for 4 years?
