I work in audit so most of my work is done from the client site. I do a lot of work on excel and writing reports/memos. I spend a lot of my day speaking to the client & forming essential relationships with the team.
Looking back on my work so far I have learned so much! I have recently passed my Level 4 apprenticeship and will be moving onto the level 7 qualification next. Additionally I am now half way though my professional ACA ICAEW exams.
I really do like my programme. I was intending to do accounting and finance at university anyway so this just a head start. I can't wait until all my friends graduate and realise I'm in the best position out of all them. Work is far more sociable than I thought and I haven't struggled to make friends. I love the people & culture at Deloitte.
I do feel valued - the year end appraisal system really allowed me to reflect on how far I have come and get feedback (positive mostly) from managers & above. My team constantly challenge me and I love it!
The progression path for my qualification is logical and its nice to be able to see a progression path all the way to the end of the 4 years. Studying for exams whilst working is hard but well worth it and there is a lot of support from within the firm.
I do my exams with BPP and they are excellent in preparing you for the professional exams. Deloitte are very aware of your exam dates and there are procedures in place to support you whilst you're revising.
Whilst working on audit you form close relationships with the entire team and they support you throughout. I also have a coach who helps me with my career progression overall.
I'm lucky to live walking distance from the office (even though I'm rarely there) so I save a lot on travel. I find myself being able to save a big chunk of my monthly salary despite living in London. There are funded drinks & socials which also helps.
Yes - there is lots to get involved in including sports teams and language classes. There are also after work socials which I always look forward to. I recently took part in some volunteer work within the local community through work as well.
Yes
I love it - culture is fantastic & its a great way to jumpstart your career
Do your research - there is lots of information online, figure out why you want to work at Deloitte and you be fine!
