My Job role is a technician. I work alongside engineers in order to help create and maintain Revit models of projects. There are some tedious tasks but overall the job is enjoyable.
I have learnt plenty of skills, from using Revit to working with point cloud scanners. I am also studying a btec.
I enjoy the programme a lot. I am making a difference to the local area and I am gaining the skills and experience I need in order to improve myself within the industry I work in.
Very valued, there is a flexible benefits fund along with regular appraisals, profit share, and many other job benefits.
On Arup's side, it is very well structured. There is a system in place that ensures the regular progression of all of the apprentices.
College is the weakest part of the apprenticeship. There is a lack of training amongst the teachers and the gap between teachers at my old sixth form and this college is massive. The difference between A levels and BTEC is also quite strong. I struggled to get a C at A-level whilst the same amount of effort will easily gain a Distinction in BTEC. I have heard that the uni course is better than the college, so look forward to that.
I receive plenty of support from Arup. From day to day work, where management and colleagues are happy to help, to college work, where there are mentors provided for me. HR has also helped me solve some of the issues I've had with my flexible benefits.
The salary is very good when compared to other apprenticeship wages. There is also profit share on top of the salary. The salary is reviewed twice a year and is increased provided performance criteria is met.
There are plenty of initiatives outside of work which is designed to help the community. There are also other sports activities such as weekly football. Team socials are also regular. Overall there are plenty of opportunities outside of work which can be taken. Everybody at the workplace is also keen to participate in these activities.
Yes
The company clearly values its employees and it is a very enjoyable place to work.
