I'm a trainee Openreach Engineer working as a service delivery engineer. My main responsibilities include the installation and repair of customer's telephone and broadband services.
I have learnt many new skills such as line faulting, line installation, FTTC repair and customer interaction skills.
I have found the programme as a whole to be very enjoyable and I have learnt a lot during it.
I feel very valued by BT Openreach. All the hard work I have put in to my work has been rewarded by my manager putting me forward for numerous courses and experience days.
The structure can be slightly fragmented at times as you have to fit your studies in around your work but there is help available when needed.
I receive a basic amount of support but I feel this is the only amount I require due to my understanding of the work.
My employer supports my studies well by allowing me extra days off to complete my work for my nvq
The salary is of a high standard in comparison to other apprenticeships and traineeships
Openreach offer lots of opportunities for progression outside of my normal working day.
