I work as a support analyst for integration. we allow applications to communicate securely by providing a secure and reliable service for different lines of business.
I have learnt many new skills from gaining knowledge of different languages to being able to develop my communication skills. My degree is work based which means that I can put into practise what I learn at university and therefore can make use of the theory I learn.
I thoroughly enjoy the scheme. It is a brilliant opportunity especially for someone leaving from school. BT allow you to get a good grasp of the technologies from very early on which helps in the development of your career.
All apprentices are made to feel part of the team from day one you are trained up and BT invest a lot of time and money into their apprentices and apprentices have the same opportunities as any other employee as they can earn E-Cards for the work they complete.
the programme is structured in a way that gives apprentices support from day one but also challenges them to push themselves to take every opportunity presented to them. The managers are given support to ensure they can support apprentices properly in terms of coaching and giving the apprentice the time to do university tasks.
Our tutors are always on hand to help up with problems when are having with our coursework. They are always willing to help when possible and provide guidance documents to help us outside of classroom times.
My manager offers a great deal of support and my apprentice coach is always available when I need guidance with NVQ tasks. In general the support a receive is great and exactly what is needed when completing the apprenticeship.
The salary given covers living costs, travel costs, daily costs, social costs and location. BT offer a generous salary along with benefits and a good pension scheme for all employees.
there are many opportunities for apprentices and BT employees to socialise outside of work and attend tech talks to learn more about the technologies available that could be used within BT.
Yes
I have already recommended BT to a friend who starts next month. I think it is a great company to work for and I have never regretted my decision to join BT rather than go to university through the traditional route. It has been a brilliant experience and taught me so much academically and personally.
When applying put down the things that are unique about you on your application it makes you stand out against the rest and if you get an interview don't be afraid to tell them you are good at a particular thing because it could help you get the job. I wish someone had told me how many opportunities I would be given.
