I work in an Export business, looking at resource management and integrated business planning. A day in my role consists of looking at demand across multiple contracts and ensuring that the demand position is up to date and accurate. This means having continuous discussion with Project Control Managers to ensure that they are reflecting a realistic position in the resource planning tool.
I have been on some internal courses and training sessions in the past 7 months that have helped me to develop my personal skills. The most recent one I attended was an Ambassador Training Course, which means that I can go to colleges and schools to further promote the scheme. By doing this, also means that I have received my DBS clearance, something which will stay with me for life.
The team in which I work has a brilliant atmosphere and it's a very friendly environment in the office. Everyone is readily available to provide assistance should it be needed. The work which I do has interesting and challenging elements and due to the nature of the work means that I get to interact with many people from different sides of the business. The office definitely exceeded my expectations as it is a lot more inviting than I anticipated.
I feel very valued at work, receiving regular appreciation from my line manager for tasks that I have carried out. Also, I have received internal recognition for some of my daily tasks in the Business Operations Review.
Very well structured, good chronological format at the initial induction to the programme. The company made the process a lot less tedious than it could have been. There is a lot of support that is readily available to assist and resolve any problems.
Some of the tutors are very supportive which provides comfort to know that they are open to answer any questions that we have. Also some tutors regularly go out of their way to support our learning by sending out re cap emails and using other helpful techniques to support learning.
Line manager is very helpful in teaching aspects of my role, and quickly made me understand that there is no such thing as a stupid question. HR team are very helpful in answering any queries or forwarding them on to the necessary department. My mentor is also very helpful in answering questions and giving advice of how to make the most out of the scheme.
The salary is very generous and covers all living, travel, daily, social costs and as I live with my parents it means I have a lot of surplus money to spend on an expensive hobby.
There are many opportunities to get involved in activities outside of the workplace. As the company is so vast, many people are willing to work with you to get invovled and the company is willing to support a good cause.
Yes
Excellent company to work for with various internal and external opportunities. Very generous starting salary with regular pay reviews.
Be confident in delivery of answering questions, research the role that is being applied for, ensure that all answers to questions are truthful as it is easy to see when someone is making up an answer on the spot, ensure you can relate to team building exercises.
