Assistant Associate Responsibilities are testing cash, unrecorded liability testing, payroll testing, assets testing, investment testing, FS checklists, meeting with clients, completing system procedures
Learnt many new skills including passing accounting and assurance exams and receiving tuition for a tax exam. Professional skills such as communicating both verbally and written with other professionals. Developed my computer skills for example enhanced my excel and Microsoft office skills.
I enjoy my job as I enjoy working with a lot of different people, and enjoy the company culture at Deloitte.
I feel very valued by my employer as they invest a lot of money into my tuition for my professional qualification. At the end of each job I receive feedback from my field manager which helps me strive towards constant improvement. There is also a limelight scheme where exceptional effort is recognised and awarded with a £50 voucher, and I was awarded a limelight on my first engagement.
The programme is very well structured. There are two annual meetings with my appraiser to discuss how I'm getting on within the firm. There is delegated time for study leave and for college, and when I first joined the firm there was an initial two month training period to learn the basics to help me with my first engagement. On each engagement there is a well organised hierarchy of typically a junior, senior, assistant manager and manager to cover all aspects of each job.
I receive a good amount of support from my tutor at college, as I can email her or arrange a meet up for any questions I have prior to my exams. There is also a brilliant online website provided by the college which features mock tests and frequently asked questions which are very helpful.
I receive a lot of support from my managers for example, when I have an exam approaching, the manager allows me to leave on time every day in order to revise, to be at my best ability ready for the exam. If I ever have any issues whilst completing my day to day work, support is always given by my field manager and any other seniors on the team.
My salary meets all my costs and expenditure each month and I can easily afford luxuries on my current salary. Most travel costs and provided by Deloitte therefore traveling for the job isn't an issue.
There are many social events outside of work with different groups such as year groups, engagement teams and service lines. There is also sporting activities available such as sports tournaments and trips. There is also a community investment programme which involves a few hours charity work a month which I am keen to get involved in.
Yes
I would refer Deloitte to a friend as it is a brilliant way to start your career and jump straight into the business world. You're given responsibility from your first day on a client and there is a lot of opportunities to progress within the firm.
The main piece of advice I'd give to someone applying for Deloitte would be; to be very friendly and open in the interviews as the interviewer takes a lot from first impressions. Also, if a speech is needed for the final interview, to ensure you're well rehearsed for any follow up questions the interviewer may ask and be confident within what you're saying.
