  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have developed new skills, in particular technical skills. Working with some of the systems involved with wifi as well as other network systems have allowed me to develop my technical knowledge. I have also gained technical knowledge through completing ALP's (Annual Learning Programmes) about networks. I have also learnt how a company as big as BT works together and improves the communications for its customers.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by BT Group?
  • As a first year apprentice I feel very valued by BT. As one of the most highly rated apprenticeships in the UK, we are treated with respect and equally. We are treated like every other colleague in the company and are trusted too. Being given tasks and volunteering opportunities shows BT value us as they put BT's name in our hands as well as their future. Good work is always recognised by senior members of staff and we get praised for good work.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • I have received a lot of support so far in my apprenticeship. Frequent buddy meeting with a second year apprentice, and frequent one to ones with my manager every month give me all the support I need. They are in place to go through any problems I have, get feedback on how well I am doing and if I need any help.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My salary meets my costs nicely, as I have enough for living costs and have enough for leisure and social costs. At the moment, still living at home with parents helps as a lot of my wage can be spent on my living costs.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • There are many opportunities outside of work. Many volunteering opportunities and events are available. For example I have already attended one event called 'what's next' which was in London, where I got to see the BT Centre as well as senior members of BT. Also I have volunteered to go to careers events for example local schools in the area, where I present the apprenticeship scheme to younger people.

  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend BT to a friend as it is one of the many best apprenticeships in the UK. In this apprenticeship you get endless opportunities to excel in your career. On my apprenticeship I get to develop my skills, gain a degree in network engineering and get paid at the same time. Its a brilliant place to work, as it is interesting working for one of the biggest telecommunications companies in the world, and enjoy everyday I work.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BT Group?
