  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • So far I have enjoyed my program quite a lot. The team I am in is quite small and as a result is quite tight knit and very friendly. The company culture is relaxed while still being professional. • I feel very valued. My manager is a very personable person, he is always quick to praise when good work has been done or when I have taken time out of my schedule to help some else out with anything. • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • For induction we spent a week at a BT training facility being introduced to the basic outline of the program. In work we are very much left to do our own learning, but if we have any questions there are always people around with lots of experience who are happy to help. We are given one day a week which we can dedicate to our university and NVQ work which means we are not overworked trying to get everything completed.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive a good amount of support from my employer as well. There are always people available to help with any issue I run into whether it be specific to my role as an apprentice or just my regular role as an employee. My manager and team lead are both involved in ensuring that there are no major blockers for me to do my normal job or any of my learning on a daily basis.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • My salary covers my costs with money left over to save. I live with my parents currently so monthly spending's on rent are not high, but I could afford to rent a small flat while still being able to save money and have a good social life. My location is very handy for all public transport, but I have made use of the cycle to work scheme available which has helped further reduce costs.

There is lots of support for those in the position of apprentices which means we are able to try many different things, and get a feel for different positions without masses of pressure being placed upon us.
