My day to day role as a maintenance engineer includes responding to machine breakdowns to keep production running as efficiently as possible.
As I am only 6 months into my apprenticeship there is still a lot left to learn but I have already received training on abrasive wheels and welding in addition to the college work.
The programme itself is full of interesting things to learn, on top of that I have met some new people along the way.
Tulip do make you feel valued and they will recognise when you put in hard work. When the results came in for the H&S exam, the HR team set up a congratulatory lunch/buffet for those how had achieved good marks.
At the beginning of the course there were a few unanswered questions however, as we settled into the course it became more structured.
College lecturers are always happy to help and are only an email away if we need any extra support at work.
The engineering management team have made considerable efforts to support our learning, for example, for any college work which must be done outside of college, we are given a few hours on a Friday afternoon to complete at work.
Pay rates are excellent as an apprentice compared to other apprenticeship rates.
The company could to more to provide activities out side of work, however I do know there are many sports teams set up by other employees at the site.
