I work in Regulatory Reporting where we check that trades have been reported to the regulator correctly and meet any jurisdiction requirements. We also investigate technical issues that cause trades to be reported incorrectly when required. I have been able to project my own investigations and have been given the opportunity to make a real change to the business through this.
I have developed my presentation skills through online training and real life experience. I have also developed my networking and communication skills through multiple networking events and my daily role. I have also learnt about many different products due to the scope of my role.
I really enjoy the programme, there have been many opportunities for extra learning as well as volunteering events which allow you to help the community and build your network.
I feel very valued by JP Morgan, I have been given individual tasks where I can see an immediate positive effect on the business. This has been recognised by my initial manager as well as their manager.
This apprenticeship is well organised, there is a dedicated team to assist where needed. Multiple meetings/informative sessions have been arranged to give us information face to face as well as via email. I have been given a role that is part of the team, not below everyone else.
I receive help when required, there is a dedicated forum where students can email the tutor and receive a response within 24 hours. We have both an internal and external representative who we can go to problems with and this is resolved as quickly as possible.
The attitude within JPMorgan is positive and everyone is always willing to support me whenever I need it. I have weekly one to ones with my manager where I can raise any issues and talk about development.
As I rent a room with a family, my salary covers my living costs and financially I am comfortable. When I moved out to rent a flat, my salary covered my costs but only just.
There are lots of volunteering events at e=different charities throughout the year. There are also groups which organise networking/informative events targeted at different audiences. There are many social groups such as a running group, weekly choir etc.
