My role as an BrightStart is the equivalent of an Analyst within the firm. Each working day I'm involved in assisting projects with top end clients where my skills and experience accelerate from strength to strength as my time in Deloitte progresses.
The programme not only involves undertaking professional qualifications, but our week also involves attending university one day per week. At university I'm completing my Business Technology degree which is stretched over 5 years.
I feel that this programme is the perfect set-up for anybody with an interest in business and wants to kick-start their career earlier than their peers. It's great to be able to enjoy the student life whilst earning a salary.
At Deloitte it is fair to say that there are a lot of people working here - not to mention how frequent each person can move about with project work. Everybody is very busy which can leave you feeling quite isolated; particularly when you're new. However, good quality work is highly appreciated and rewarded very well.
The programme is relatively new and is continuing to improve each year. The development path is put together effectively as I know what each year will look like both at work and at university.
Assuming that my training provider is University of Ulster, I would say that we receive a lot of support in our studies. The lecturers appreciate our workload and work around us as much as possible.
Deloitte offers a lot of support in developing your skills as there is a huge amount of money invested in training and development each year.
As an apprentice my salary isn't particularly great in comparison to other Analysts (graduates) who are required to do the same job almost. But with university fees already paid for and only having to work 4 days a week - the wage is more than enough to meet my costs.
Events outside of Deloitte are in an abundance particularly team socials/dinners and the monthly First Friday Drinks.

Why wouldn't you want to work for the best of the Big Four; particularly when you have an interest in business. Not to forget the opportunities to travel with work.
