My job role is a maintainence technician apprentice. My day to day task vary largely depenending on the day of the week and the rotation that i am on will vary my tasks. At the moment i am on the electrical rotation so my day consists of building circuits, carrying out testing and interpreting and drawing wiring/circuit diagrams
I have learnt a variety of new skills throughout my time at BMW, these included such things as welding, machining and electrical. BMW has also helped further my teamworking, teambuilding and communication skills due to the close knit nature of the apprenticeship, starting from skerne lodge and developing in our groups daily
I really enjoy the programme at BMW because of the content and environment i have learnt and worked it. There is lots of support given and also lots of times where i have had to act indepentantly in order to complelte a task or solve a problem that is set.
Overall i feel valued by BMW as we are reminded and encouraged to do our best because we will when we complete our apprenticeship be the future of BMW and all ideas we have and come up with regarding development and improvement are accepted and are looked into and reviewed to see if they are viable or not
Overall the induction and training to the course was clear and consise as well as the heirarchy of the workshop was explained. Througout the year the programme has been for the most part very well organised however thare have been some times where it hasnt been planned adequatly enough for me in my opinion
I receive a lot of support from the workshop tutors about my apprenticeship and the feedback about our practical assignments is positive and contstructive. However our BTEC side of the apprenticeship we recieve little to no feedback if we pass so we do not know how well we are achieving
I receive constant support from my managers as they are constantly pushing the apprentice program and apprentices to achieve as high as we can and to sieze all of the oppotunities that i are offered to me that further myself technically and all things that further myself academically and as a person
The salary fits my costs well with each month having enough money to save. My travel costs are very small as a motorbike is good on fuel and my commute isn't very far. The food in the cantine is reasonably priced and as a result i manage to cope well with my monthly costs fititng in with my salary
Yes there are many oppotunites outside of work and within the BMW group that can further outselves academically as well as physically and as a person. The oppotunities include things like trips to germany, courses to develop and add to our CV as well as oppotuinities for higher education such as foundation degrees
Yes
Becuase BMW is a very good company to work for and helps develop you as a person and tehnically as well as the massive array of perks such as car scheme, good pension and discounts at a variety of places.
The advice i would give is to apply early, arrive to interview early and be social, these people could all be your colleagues so a good start could help you down the line
