Completeing NVQ practical activities along with BTEC theory work. Given various other responsibilities throughout the week to complete. Have registration twice a day to ensure we are punctual in our working hours and are given projects to complete for both certificated work and also from managers such as adjustments to the working enviroment.
Yes lots. Learnt how to weld different types of joins using MMA welding with electrodes, electronics where we have working on bread boards and stripboards to create working light circuits, electrical and PLC work. Completed various machining tasks such as on the Mill and Lathe. All have been great fun.
Really enjoy the people within my working group as we work well in a team. Brilliant company to work for with a great working ethic. Was about what I was expecting it to be and has gone very well so far. Given more and more responsibility over time as expected.
Feel valued at the level I am at and get treated with the responsibility which is to be expected for someone who has just started. All assessors are respectful and treat you like a human. By the whole company not as much but is understandable due to the large workforce within the company human
Well structured. Assessors ensure deadlines are met and always go the extra mine to ensure we have the required knowledge and then some additional information to ensure we are the knowledgeable in engineering of all apprentices available. All information is given at the right time for us to be able to complete it.
Support is given where required and where it is asked. Prompting of ideas is also given to help give hints but is not given to us easily so we always have to work for the outcomes which we require. They also provide us with personal support and give all of us confidence in our abilities which has seen other apprentices improve greatly.
Not very much support from the employer as we do not have a great deal of contact with them as of yet. it is mainly given to the supplier to carry out as our education goes through them but would also be nice to receive some contact and support from the actual employer and as to where we will be working within so we know what they want from us.
Not well as I have travelled a long distance to join this apprenticeship and therefore am self-sufficient on the salary we receive. As this is an apprentice salary this is not very high which makes it hard to live in the most expensive place to live in Britain compared to the salary.
Enough opportunities are given outside of work such as race team, three peaks, family day and various other opportunities what we are able to partake in. Some people are not always able to do them due to the large workload and other commitments we have outside of the working environment.
Yes
Is a great apprenticeship and have personally done so with some of my friends due to the various opportunities we may be able to become involved with in the future that can help us to become a better rounded employee. There is also the company car scheme which can be taken advantage of.
Just make yourself as impressive as possible by showing everything you have done which would make you seem like a worthy candidate to join in the company. Also be aware that there is a car scheme but has recently changed so you have to be over the age of 18 to be eligible
