  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • Technology Consulting, primarily working on investment appraisal projects within the public sector. I have worked on 4 large scale public sector projects based in London, Nottingham and Belfast. I have been responsible for managing a number of client deliverables. Writing community newsletters Speaking at public events about the BrightStart programme

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I like meeting new people every day and I love my peer group. I enjoy going to work events and socialising. I enjoy travelling to different parts of the UK that I haven't been to before. When travelling, I love the team environment inside and outside of work.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Deloitte?
  • My managers regularly reward my hard work through nominating me for Limelight awards - which recognise employees who have added value to the firm. I regularly get feedback from my line managers about my progress and areas of improvement. I am responsible for a number of client deliverables which make me feel very valued.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • We have structured timetable for university and we during our 16 week induction programme. Within university there is a good support network and we have regular check ins with out coaches and university module co-ordinator to ensure we are reaching targets. Post induction, the programme could be structured slightly better.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • Within university we have a module co-ordinator who handles any issues that may arise. We have atleast 3 check ins with our co-ordinator a year to talk about our progress. When completeing Prince2 or BCS qualifications, the external trainers have been very supportive and helpful.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • We are allowed to take 1 study day per module in university (atleast 4 per year) to help us with our studies. We are allocated a coach and buddy who we can speak relating our career progression, pressure and issues within work. Deloitte have a very good mental health network and we have mental health champions at every grade.

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • Our salaries are significantly less than graduates. Therefore, apprentices have to live in student housing.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Yes we regularly have charitable events after work to raise money for our partner charity - Kinship Care NI. Furthermore, we have events such as the annual Spring Ball, Summer BBQ and internal team strategy events. Employees have the chance to volunteer with any of our charity partners and we are allowed 3.5 hours a month to spend on volunteer work. Deloitte have a Gaelic, Tag Rugby and Football team.

  • 9. Would you recommend Deloitte to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • The programme offers a degree and other sought after business and technology qualifications. We have the opportunity to travel and work on really interesting projects. Deloitte have a very good business culture and have a fantastic support network, particularly at more junior grades.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Deloitte?
  • Make sure you do relevant work experience when you are in sixth form. Make sure to ask questions about the type of work you will be doing. During the assessment days, take a leadership role but let other people voice there opinions and listen to others. Ask about your induction process if successful and ask about opportunities outside out client projects.
